A learner’s guide, start to finish

From finding a course to a certificate an employer can verify.

Getting started

  1. 1

    1. Create your account

Register with your name and email. Use the name you want printed on your certificates — it is copied across at the moment each one is issued.

  2. 2

    2. Find something to learn

Search from the header, or browse by discipline from the homepage. Course cards show the rating, the number of lectures and the total length before you open anything.

  3. 3

    3. Check it is right for you

The course page lists what you will be able to do by the end, what you need before starting, and who it is aimed at. Preview lectures play without enrolling.

  4. 4

    4. Enrol

Free courses start instantly. Paid courses go through checkout, a subscription plan, or a voucher code from your organisation. Whichever applies is stated on the course page.

Working through a course

  1. 1

    5. Use the player

The curriculum sits on the right, grouped into sections you can collapse. Each item shows whether it is a video or reading, and how long it takes. Your place is saved automatically.

  2. 2

    6. Read what is under the video

Overview holds the lecture description, downloads and any end-of-lesson quiz. Notes is your private notebook. Announcements carries the instructor’s messages. Reviews is what other learners made of it.

  3. 3

    7. Take notes as you go

Notes are stamped with roughly where in the video you were, so you can find the moment again later. They are private to you and stay with the lecture.

  4. 4

    8. Mark lectures complete

Press Mark as complete when you finish one. This is what drives your progress bar, and on a graded course it is 80% of your final grade.

  5. 5

    9. Keep a streak

Finish something each day to build a streak and earn badges. Freeze tokens forgive a missed day automatically, so one bad week does not wipe out months.

Coursework and your grade

  1. 1

    10. Take the quizzes

Quizzes attached to a lecture appear under the video. A course may also have a final assessment, which closes the curriculum in the sidebar. Your attempts are all kept.

  2. 2

    11. Submit assignments

Write your answer, attach a file, or both — whichever the instructor allows. Submissions are accepted automatically a few minutes later and your grade updates then.

  3. 3

    12. Watch your grade

The coursework page shows every assignment and quiz on the course, what you have done and where you stand. On graded courses it is 80% lectures, 20% coursework.

Finishing

  1. 1

    13. Collect your certificate

Complete the course and it is issued automatically — emailed to you as a PDF and kept under My Certificates. On graded courses your final grade is printed on it.

  2. 2

    14. Let people verify it

Share the verification link rather than the file. Anyone can enter the code on our public verification page and confirm it without an account.

  3. 3

    15. Rate what you took

Only learners who worked through a course can rate it, so your review carries real weight for whoever reads it next.

  4. 4

    16. Keep your shelf tidy

Archive finished courses to move them out of My Learning. Archiving never removes your access, your progress or your certificate.
